Action Medical Research for Children Garmin Ride Out 2019

Last Friday I had a great opportunity to help support Action Medical Research for Children and take part in the annual Garmin Ride Out event in the New Forest.

It’s an amazing opportunity for cyclist to show their support for Action Medical Research for Children and to help raise money to support the mission to save and change children’s lives through medical research, developing treatments, vaccinations and cures.

This years ride was joined by pro riders; Dan Mclay from Education First, Carlos Verona from Movistar, Matteo Trentin from Mitchelton Scott, Greg Callaghan of Cube and Chris Lawless from Team Ineos. Also as part of Garmin’s Next Level programme Dani & Matt Rowe were in attendance and the 6 Next Level programme athletes joined the ride, sharing their experiences with others and how coaching has made a difference to their performance.

The 52mile loop took us north from Hoburn Ashley through the New Forest, stopping off just outside Fordingbridge for a pit stop. With all the miles I have covered on my bike, this was the first time I have actually ridden in the New Forest. The countryside is beautiful and there is so much wildlife around you all the time; wild donkeys, horses, cows, sheep, definitely have to go back and explore some more.
